Child Performer to Pro Actor to Coach

“As an introvert who had to “turn it on” for a living, I know what it’s like to be nervous… to have stage fright but have to go on anyway. I understand what it’s like to be competent or even overqualified for a role but still feel insecure. Competence unfortunately doesn’t always equate to confidence, especially if you’ve never been equipped with the tools to stand your ground. Being a paid performer for a total of 22 years has allowed me to develop and hone specific techniques on how to stay grounded despite anxiety. I know far too many people who have what it takes to succeed but the one thing they lack is self-confidence to walk into a room and own it. That takes time to build but wouldn’t it be nice to know how to “fake it ‘til you make it” in the meantime? Here at Equity Arts, the goal is to fortify you with the mental, emotional, and business savvy to open doors that your formal education cannot. Whether you work in the entertainment business or a more traditional industry, chances for possible exploitation are plenty. I started this company because I got really tired of seeing traumatized child stars being laughed at. If only they’d had some protection and guidance; if only their parents knew how to advocate for them… I’ve been coaching children and young adults on confidence building for years but (during a brief stint working in real estate) I realized how many adults are also lacking in that department. It’s important to know who you are, what you want, and how to influence others to give it to you. If you’re not convinced by your own pitch, then how can you expect to close the deal? Let’s turn you into your own biggest advocate. Let’s make you UNSHAKEABLE.”
